Spas We Love... The Spa at South Lodge
When the beautiful Hungarian brand, Omorovicza invited Amy to 2019’s Good Spa Guide Award winning, The Spa at South Lodge, she did not need much persuading to grab an overnight bag and hot foot it across to Horsham (conveniently only an hour away from BB headquarters in Hastings).
Set in the grounds of the lovely five-star South Lodge Hotel, the spa is a newly built 44,000 sq. ft. luxury escape that blends perfectly into the surroundings with beautiful views over their heated wild swimming pool and gorgeous landscape, since opening in March last year it has received rapturous reviews.
Omorovicza have chosen the spa as their only venue outside of London and we can see why. The therapy rooms are serene havens of tranquility and the brand have created an exclusive indulgent back and facial treatment, inspired by South Lodge’s botanical history. Amy especially loved the special relaxation stations where you can switch off and drift away in heat, light and sound pods – completely heavenly.
As well as all the treatments on offer, there’s an infinity pool with sublime views that would make doing your morning laps much more enticing, an array of saunas including a marble-lined salt room (which did wonders for Amy’s sinuses), a jasmine herbal steam space, an outside hydro-therapy pool and state-of-the-art gym, if you so happen to feel like something a bit more exerting. And although Amy’s visit was just pre-pandemic, we’ve established everything is open, in a COVID-safe way, BTW.
After an evening of self-care and blissful rejuvenation, Amy slept like a baby (and can very much give the mattress at the neighbouring hotel a Beauty Bible seal of approval) and awoke to be served a delicious brunch in the spa’s Botanica restaurant - spiced poached pears with homemade granola and artichoke milk - Amy said she’d go back just for the food, by the way.
It’s a perfect escape for a quick recharge, even if just for an afternoon - grab a girlfriend, take your Mum or even a solo retreat (mmmm, we like the sound of that)…
