Olverum’s original Bath Oil is one of our most longstanding beauty loves. We first discovered it on a visit more decades ago than we care to count, on a visit to Pimlico’s Les Senteurs fragrance boutique, where it had earned its stripes (and a place on the shelves) by virtue of its wonderfully uplifting, head-clearing scent.

Back then, Olverum Bath Oil still came in its traditional packaging – for this is a true heritage product, created in 1931 in Germany’s Mosel Valley by Franz Otto Klein, a winemaker with a love of essential oils, and his pharmacologist wife Edith. Featuring mood-lifting, energising essential oils – including Siberian fir, juniper and rosemary – it took its name from the Latin oleum verum, which translates as ‘true oil’.

Fast forward, and while that Bath Oil is our first love – and has scooped repeated Beauty Bible Awards – we have pretty much fallen head over heels for all the brand’s subsequent, spa-standard launches. (Olverum, FYI, is now owned by the family behind that famed Pimlico fragrance boutique.) Products feature only natural botanical and mineral actives, formulated to work in harmony with the body – no silicones, mineral oil, petrolatum, sulphates, parabens or Triclosan (and vegan, too). Plus, with its sleekly stylish packaging, we have to say that the Olverum line pleases all of the senses, nowadays – not just the sense of smell.
