Beauty Bible Loves... Amouage Guidance Body Lotion

A few years ago, fragrance companies were falling over themselves to discontinue the bodycare lines that complemented their perfumes. You couldn’t find ‘layering’ options for most fragrances, for love nor money.

But in the wake of the fragrant boom of the past few years, that situation has been reversed. And one of the loveliest bodycare expressions of an already-fabulous fragrance to have landed in our lives lately is this exquisite body lotion, from Amouage, who are based in the Middle East, and who showcase many of the region’s exotic ingredients in their creations.

Now, the Amouage Guidance fragrance itself, of which this is a bodycare ‘echo’, is priced at £320. Gulp. (We are most definitely living in the age of the £300+ perfume, and yes, sales are still booming.) But can we let you into a little secret? Because we’re finding that the longevity of this absolutely luscious body treat is even longer than the perfume itself, plus you have the bonus that it nourishes skin beautifully.

It’s still pricy (really pricy), although at 360g this is a generous bottle. But the fragrant staying power really is quite remarkable – 36 hours after massaging it in, we still get wafts of this warm, cosy, smoochy scent. It’s like a cocoon for skin, and for the senses. There’s an interesting hazelnut note in here, which, with the vanilla, makes it quite moreishly delish. Frankincense, too, as well as some delicate flowers (jasmine, rose). Add a breath of incense, some smooth sandalwood, with a real ‘skin-scent’ vibe that has us… well, sniffing our own velvety body!

File under ‘a v-e-r-y special treat’. (And maybe drop a hint to Santa, if you feel you’re on the ‘Nice’ list.)
