Treatments We Love: Michelle Roques O'Neil Aromabalance

When Michelle Roques O’Neil announced a new residency at The French Pharmacy – an Aladdin’s Cave of French brands, off Marylebone High Street – Jo booked in, in a flash.

She writes:

‘I’m lucky enough to have experienced treatments with Michelle before and consider her to be a world-class healer. But the therapy I enjoyed this time was new to me: Aroma Resonance is described as a powerful blend of guidance and treatment for addressing specific physical or emotional issues, using a combination of sound healing, aroma, healing and energy rebalancing touch.’

My session was the 90-minutes. To be honest, 90 minutes is normally LONG, for me – I start fretting about everything else I ought to be getting on with, after an hour (or less). But Michelle’s energy is such that I could happily have lain on that couch for twice as long. Deeply intuitive, she seems to know what niggles you have, emotional or physical, and works on those.

I have an annoying, nagging injury to my upper arm – damage to the fascia, from twisting it when slipping on the stairs – and without having to mention it, she sensed that and worked for it. ‘It’ll be better from now on,’ Michelle promised – and while not yet completely gone away (fascia injuries take up to 16 weeks to heal fully), it’s been far less painful since the treatment.

This is a very energetic session, as opposed to a physical pummelling. Hands were gently placed on the body, and I could sense there was some reiki (or similar) going on. But there was one particular element that I loved, loved, loved being on the receiving end of, which was the sound medicine element. (I adore sound medicine, feeling like my molecules have been rearranged – in a good way – after a session with a true master.)

So, I literally couldn’t work out what Michelle was using to deliver localised vibrations to different areas of my body, from my crown to my chest. Upon “awakening” from my deep state of relaxation, I discovered that she was using a crystal tuning fork (see photo below), and a smaller metal one.

The aromatherapy came in the form of mind-clearing oils to breathe and relax me, while the background sound was a NON-IRRITATING track (don’t get me started on whale noises or spa muzak.

So here’s the thing about really great treatments: afterwards, you can’t really recount exactly what happened. In a “meh” session, you remember everything, but when enjoying a properly effective therapy, you lose yourself in the experience, rather than feeling like you’re observing it.

So, that’s all I can tell you. The rest is a blissful blur. Michelle describes what she offers as ‘soulful healing for a modern world,’ to which I can only add: there are very few therapists I’ve ever been treated by who are as gifted as Michelle, and who I’d give up my time for. I left feeling just brilliant, full of energy but utterly calm and refreshed.

In other words, how we probably all want to feel, all the time – but all too rarely do.
