14 Secrets of Beauty & Wellbeing: Margo and Roxy Marrone, of eyeam skincare
For the first time, we’ve invited a mother and daughter to share their ‘7 Secrets of Beauty & Wellbeing’ – and yes, that adds up to 14, in all. Margo and Roxy Marrone also happen to be co-founders of eyeam, a truly holistic brand that seeks to look after body, spirit and skin, and includes daily affirmations to calm and inspire.
Not only have we featured eyeam as our Fab Find of the Week, here – but at time of press you could actually WIN a fab eyeam TLC package in one of our Beauty Bible prize draws, here.
As founder of The Organic Pharmacy, a pioneering naturals brand, we know that Margo’s always been into holistic wellbeing – something she’s instilled in her gorgeous daughter. So we were fascinated to hear from them their secrets of staying balanced, healthy – and pretty darned gorgeous.
First, we hear from Margo…
The quality I rate most in others is authenticity. And unconditional love.
I make sure I shop locally seasonally and organically. I get my nutrients from food, and so I’m really careful what I put in my body where it comes from. The only supplement I take is magnesium through the skin, and eyeam Hormone Check Drops, our balancing supplement.
I never eat after seven and I put away my computer and phone in the evening. It’s the best way to switch off. A bath is my favourite way to wind down – or a sauna which really, really relaxes me. My bed and my bedroom are my sanctuary; as soon as I go into my bedroom, I rub on a magnesium balm and I’m usually in bed by 8pm. I then say a little prayer of gratitude and peace and fall fast asleep.
My biggest beauty concern is inflammation, ageing, and dull lacklustre skin. I follow an anti-inflammatory diet and use eyeam Inflammaging Skin Solution which I developed specifically for this issue and problem; I wanted a cream that was very light but super hydrating . Not only does it leave my skin glowing but it smooth out all my fine lines and wrinkles, and best of all it just makes me feel so good.
I find inspiration everywhere I look, whether it’s a walk in nature or an art gallery or book that I’m reading – even social media, although I choose the accounts that I follow really carefully, so that they’re all very inspiring and uplift me. But my biggest inspiration of all comes from God.
My best beauty tip has been actually to accept myself, just as I am.
My role model is my daughter. She inspires me every day and brings out the best in me even when I don’t feel it.
And now, for lovely Roxy…
My big beauty struggle has been hormonal acne and imbalance. It’s something I developed in my mid 20s very suddenly, which led to the creation of eyeam as I could not find anything that worked without any nasty side-effects.
I do daily lymphatic drainage massage on my face and body. Puffiness and water retention is a huge problem for me, but this immediately reduces puffiness and supports my detox and hormonal systems. My best beauty secret, though, was actually finding peace. It reduced all the inflammation in my body and face, and my whole face became so much more sculpted because I had reduced my anxiety, which I did via a combination of affirmation practice, nervous system regulation and targeted treatments like the eyeam bye bye hormonal acne set.
Kindness and a sense of humour are the qualities I most value. That’s within myself, and within the support team around me.
Inspiration is everywhere. Every single place I go, every conversation I have, everything I consume on social media all plays into inspiration. Sometimes it even comes in dreams or downloads!
My skincare routine is one of the most relaxing parts of my morning. I start it by saying my affirmations, which has not only reprogrammed my mindset from limiting beliefs, but always puts a smile on my face and makes me feel like I can conquer anything I encounter in my day!
I have a really good wellness wind-down routine. This consists of having dinner at 6pm, doing some form of self-care activity and watching something that is not anxiety-inducing so that it doesn’t raise my cortisol right before I need to sleep! And most importantly I put my phone away by 7.30. It all helps me calm my nervous system and prepare me for bed.
