Fab Find of the Week: By Terry Rouge Opulent
Frankly, the new By Terry Rouge Opulent, from our make-up genius friend Terry de Gunzburg, is quite simply the injection of joy that we need, as we stare out out of the window on yet another relentlessly grey and gloomy day. Because lipstick honestly doesn’t get more glamorous than this.
It’s luxe-priced, for sure – but the feel-good factor is impressive. First, look at those richly-pigmented colours! Definitely not for shrinking violets. This. Is. A. Statement. Lipstick… Even the paler, nuder shades – from the 12 ranged below – have mega-impact.
The shade bestowed on us is No.10. Cherry Chérie (second from the bottom, right-hand column) – the most ravishing deep raspberry. It glides on, leaving lips feeling super-comfortable, powered by a skin-caring complex which (we’re told) features ‘50 peptides, raspberry leaf and goji bery extracts', plus a ‘Ruby Radiance Complex’ which supposedly exfoliates, ensuring a smoother finish. (NB This does not mean that the product pills on the lips. Far from it; the finish is ultra-smooth.)
Appearance-wise, it is velvety – not quite matte. It’s weightless, too, so you’ll barely feel it’s there – and it lasts. It really lasts, without bleeding into lines.
A lover of vintage cosmetic packaging and a collector of Art Deco, the design was supposedly inspired by Terry’s mother’s jewellery. To us, it has the feel of an incredible vintage lighter. It’s a real keepsake beauty treasure, which can be refilled with other shades – easy to click in and click out. (We have our eyes on No.9 Red Couture, next.) Once you’ve got the case itself, refills aren’t out of step with other brands’ lipstick prices.
