Beauty Bible Loves... L'Occitane's new diffusers

In general, we’ve always preferred a scented candle to a diffuser because those tend to be so… well, unattractive.

But these, from L’Occitane, not only smell gorgeous (read on) – they look great, too, with a sort of Art Deco aesthetic that would look right at home in any interior, from maximalist Boho to Scandi-style minimalist. Rather than refill, if you wanted you could repurpose as a jolly good-looking vase afterwards.

L’Occitane are of course very good at scents, so the three very different fragrances are beautiful – and they’ve got most tastes covered. For those who like fresher, green scents there is Figuier Oolong, which also offers notes of sandalwood and guaiac wood (a.k.a. Palo Santo), in the base, while for white flower fans we have richly floral Tubéreuse Gardénia (annoyingly out of stock on their site at time of writing, but they’ll let you know when new supplies arrive).

Ambre Cade is our top choice, though: softly sweet, woody, with deliciously warm, resinous notes – somehow cocooning and serene (the perfect antidote to our times, we’d say).

The best tip we’ve ever heard with diffusers, meanwhile, is to place them on a table that people walk around. The movement of the air wafts the fragrance into the room, whereas if you put them on a shelf or a mantelpiece, the scent won’t travel nearly so far.
