LA-EVA X Petersham Nurseries collaboration
We meant to write about this gorgeousness ages ago. It came out just before #lockdown, and the post got left on a computer in London that Jo hasn’t been back to since. (Memo to self: this is what Dropbox is for, you dingbat! Although there was no predicting that we’d all be confined to barracks or months on end.)
So: no kidding, this review is long overdue.
Actually, Petersham Nurseries is one of the places we most long to revisit when we’re feeling a little more confident about casually shopping in the big city again. The original nursery in Richmond is one of our happiest of happy places, but now we don’t have to trundle off on the District Line for a Petersham fix, because they have a fab store on King Street in Covent Garden where this range is showcased alongside houseplants, pots, vases and general, swoonworthy gorgeoousness.
This limited edition bodycare line would no doubt have sold out if it wasn’t for Covid-19, so we suggest you check it out sooner rather than later. It’s a perfect #collab, with a beauty name, accredited by Leaping Bunny, the Vegan Society and Leaping Bunny programmes. LA-EVA was founded by Louise Canham and began life as a soap-making studio.
Since then, Louise’s company has grown impressively, but is built around the idea that ‘we live life through our senses – that what we see, touch, smell, know, all those elements affect how we feel… I believe in the value of simple luxuries and everyday pleasures. This is what we seek to offer our customers: units of wellbeing that grace one’s surroundings and gently lift rituals of self-care.’
There are quite a few sublime, beautifully-bottled products in the range. ROSĒUM offers notes of rose geranium, petigrain and clove: ‘An uplifting, regenerating scent that stroke and awakens the senses.’ BLŪ gives us smoky vetiver, fused with aromatic lavender and blue chamomile. Those are both gorgeous – but there’s one more very special product which we perhaps like best of all, JASMĪNA Oil, a blend of argan, safflower, almond and rosehip, infused with exquisite jasmine and a touch of thyme and black pepper, and ideal for use on face, body, dry hair and nails. (A smaller bottle than the others, at 50ml.)
Just divine, divine, divine. (And better late than never, eh?)
