Get some #VitaminN with Burt’s Bees
A lovely idea from Burt’s Bees: they have curated a free Spotify playlist of nature sounds. When we can’t be in nature ourselves, we’ve found the sounds of the natural world very soothing and grounding during the past few months. If you’re stuck in an urban setting, they can offer even greater solace.
This effect is not just wishful thinking. As Burt’s Bees put it, ‘Nature is our natural habitat. Exposure to nature has been shown to have measurable benefits on our wellbeing – even images of the outdoors or sounds from nature will do. Consider this your invitation to unwind and reconnect with the wild, whenever you’re able.’ They encourage us to think of it as #VitaminN (‘that’s “N” fo nature’).
On this playlist, you’ll find everything from animal and bird songs to forest sounds via a ‘Norwegian Nature Odyssey’, relaxing jungle sounds, a cricket forest and even soothing owls and ‘Happy Seagulls with a Low Tide’.
On their website here, you can also find nature scenes for colouring in. We haven’t reached for the crayon tin to do that, but we can attest that the playlist is excellent listening before bedtime as a wind-down, or anytime the world is feeling a little overwhelming.
Basically, if David Attenborough had made a Spotify playlist, we think it might very well sound something very like this.
