Beauty Bible Loves… ishga Nurturing Body Oil

Being BIG fans of ishga’s existing range of Soil Association-certified 100% organic and natural body oils, we dived straight in and started delightedly using this – and it was a while before we noticed the small print. ‘Safe to use on pregnant women.’

No, we’re not (!!!) – but we’re always on the lookout for aromatherapy products that we can point pregnant friends, relatives and readers in the direction of.

The secret, here, is rose geranium – always one of our favourite essential oils, but also considered anti-inflammatory, soothing and even a natural hormone balancer. Anyway, it’s generally an oil that aromatherapists do indeed declare suitable for use in pregnancy.

That’s the only essential oil in the formula – but it happens to be one of our favourites, rosy but green, and smelling much more complex than a single essential oil. (We grow rose geranium plants ourselves, and just love, love, love fondling their leaves to get a hit of the rose-tinted aroma.) There’s no seaweed, which is a signature ingredient of Ishga, in this particular blend.

We’ve been drawn to using ishga’s oils for several reasons. The blends are properly nourishing without being heavy or sticky – here, jojoba, almond and thistle. Secondly, the dispensers are good: they’re pump action, and dispense just the right amount without squirting half-way across the bedroom carpet (bane of our lives).

We’re also pleased to discover that you can now keep the pump and screw it into a refill bottle.

All in all, a terrific way to baby your skin. (Whether or not you’re expecting one.)
