Beauty Bible Loves... EKÓ Botanicals newness
It’s a particular joy when one of the smaller natural beauty brands launches something new and fab – because it just doesn’t happen every day.
And in the case of lovely EKÓ Botanicals – now, you did enter their prize draw late last year, didn’t you? – we’ve two discoveries to share with you.
So… if it was possible to distill the absolute ‘essence of spa’, in a smell, then
EKÓ Botanicals Hair Growth Oil Elixir AMANIRENAS does exactly that. We were literally transported in time, back to an amazing spa treatment in Manhattan, on first sniff of this: a blend of 15 ingredients, with a sensational scent of lemongrass, clary sage, mint and rosemary – and it’s organic and all-natural, everything in this range. Key nourishing botanicals include organic oils of argan, marula and prickly pear, together with hibiscus extract, shea butter and cocoa oil.
While calming the scalp, the oil – or ‘elixir’ – is also designed to boost scalp strength and tackle damaged, thinning hair. You’re meant to massage a few drops of this lightweight, honestly non-greasy oil into scalp, then work through hair (we use a comb), leaving on for anything from 15 minutes to overnight to work its strengthening, shine-boosting magic before shampooing it out. But we also like just a drop, rubbed into palms and skimmed over hair, for instant gloss. (Any excuse for a hit of that scent, actually.) Suitable for all hairtypes, we’re told, from fine to curly and coily.
Our other new find is EKÓ Botanicals CLEOPATRA Sunset Ritual Botanical-Retinol Body Oil, one of a pair of body treats, in this case the ‘Sunset’ (night-time) option, subtly scented with lavender, ylang ylang and sandalwood, and designed not only to hydrate but restore radiance, firm and even fade scars. (Can’t attest to that, but skin feels blissfully nourished.)
What are ‘bio-retinols’? Well, rosehip – a key ingredient, alongside prickly pear, argan and marula – is rich in naturally-occurring tretinoin (vitamin A), known to boost collagen production and enhance elasticity and firmness. Whatever, it’s also lovely to use, lightweight and not at all ‘claggy’, unlike some oils – all in all, the perfect treat for skin that is really suffering, under all those layers.
All in all, we’re finding that this dynamic duo offers the perfect extra TLC that skin and hair need, at this time of year.
