Beauty Bible Loves… Neal’s Yard Remedies x The Dalloway Terrace Afternoon Tea
At Beauty Bible, we’ve always considered tea to be the finest meal of the day. Many a gathering has been enjoyed at around 4 p.m-ish, with Beauty Bible team members, colleagues, PRs, to enjoy a civilised gathering that we reckon is good for the soul (if not always the waistline – we generally try to walk there and back, to balance out the cake!) We regard it almost as a beauty treatment, actually, because of afternoon tea’s sheer feel-good factor.
Well, for this summer, we have a new place to gather: The Dalloway Terrace, at The Bloomsbury Hotel. It’s already quite a famous London tea spot (an Instagrammer’s dream), but for the next few months it will host a very special tea collaboration with Neal’s Yard Remedies, who’ve worked with them to create a stunning, sustainable and British-sourced menu that is also 100% delicious. (And £1 from each tea guest’s bill will go towards The Bumblebee Conservation Trust, long championed by this all-natural British brand).
As NYR explain, ‘Aligned with Neal’s Yard Remedies commitment to ethical practices, the chefs at The Dalloway Terrace have incorporated locally sourced products and ingredients…’ A ‘P’ on the menu marks pollinator-friendly ingredients, too – the first time this has been done, we think, denoting treats that include wild English strawberry and pollinator-friendly elderflower tartlette, scones with Scottish raspberry jam supplied by Heather Hills Farm, made using Perthshire Cascade Delight raspberries pollinated by the supplier’s bees.’
As an alternative to more traditional afternoon tea blends, we love that you can opt for bee-friendly herbal Neal’s Yard Remedies Lemon Balm & Elderflower Biodiversitea – and very deliciously thirst-quenching it is, too. Artisan bread is by Millers, the artisanal bakers from South West London, while cheeses are sourced from British cheesemonger, Paxton & Whitfield; as an alternative to more traditional afternoon tea blends – all very thoughtfully done, and in the most beautiful setting, with repurposed silk flowers designed by Wild at Heart.
As NYR CEO Anabel Kindersley explains, the installation was ‘inspired by some of the pollinator-friendly plants grown within our organic gardens and meadows at our eco-factory in Dorset, we hope to inspire guests to learn more about the importance of biodiversity and join us in our mission to create a healthier planet.’
The posh mixer brand London Essence have created the welcome cocktails, and are installing their 'Freshly Infused' dispense system, ‘which aims to reduce glass waste: a positive step in promoting more sustainable practices in the food and beverage industry.’ Actually, we had no idea that The Bloomsbury Hotel has also received a Gold Award for Green Tourism, in 2022, for their sustainability efforts.
