Beauty Bible Loves... Cosmetics à la Carte Calm Cream

It’s an occupational hazard of our job that we often have sensitised skin – because we try lots of different lotions and potions, in the line of duty. And we know that (for many and various reasons) sensitive skin is a problem for many, many of you, too.

So, Cosmetics à la Carte Calm Cream really is something to have on hand for when skin’s out of whack. Not only has Jo tried it on touchy skin on her face (the umpteenth time of giving a retinol a go – and the umpteenth time it made her skin react). It’s also soothed two annoyingly itchy patches of skin on her body. (Our request to Cosmetics à la Carte, then, is: please can we have a bigger tub – maybe a vat – for that…?)

It relieves irritation, redness and general touchiness with ingredients that include oat prebiotics, zinc and ceramides, and also acts as a barrier cream. They recommend using it with active skincare products, too, as a ‘buffer’ to help counter irritation. As CALC founder Lynne Sanders says, ‘I came to realise that while revolutionary and effective, complex cutting-edge skincare routines and intensive aesthetic treatments were also causing some skins to become more stressed and sensitive than ever. Cue Calm Cream, packed with everything soothing, and nothing sensitising. Created with love for the many valued Cosmetics à la Carte customers with troubled skin who have come to me for advice over the years.’

Completely unscented and wonderfully ‘pillow-y’, we almost imaging a soundtrack when applying – the skin going ‘aaaaah’ (no, not ‘aaaaargh!), and relaxing.

It’s so lovely to use, actually, that you’ll probably want to do that even when skin’s not out of whack at all.
