Beauty Bible Loves... Chantecaille Rose de Mai limited editions
For perfumers and the scent-obsessed (like founder Sylvie Chantecaille), there is nothing in the floral universe to rival rose de Mai. It’s simply the rosiest of all roses, and location-specific – to Grasse, in the South of France, to be precise.
It is from this sun-baked area of Provence that Chantecaille source the roses for their truly luxurious Rose de Mai products, which are quite simply heaven in a jar or a tube. And right now, some of the lip, face and body treats in the range can be enjoyed in rose-strewn limited editions that are far too pretty to throw away, frankly. (Which might make us a a bit ‘sad’, but we don’t care!)
We feel very spoiled to have been given the opportunity to wallow in the loveliness of several Chantecaille Rose de Mai creations, over the past month – and to keep the post-Chelsea Flower Show florabundant theme going for that bit longer, just as the roses start to unfold their petals in our own gardens, here’s what we’re loving.
Pure Rosewater Limited Edition/£75 for 125ml. A glorious 100% natural rose-powered mist for an instant blast of hydration. The petals, we are told, are steam-distilled in artesian well water, to release the roses’ antioxidant properties. Whatever: it’s great after cleansing, nice for refreshing make-up, will be fab on a hot day (if we ever get any of those), while the limited edition bottle itself is just beautiful, isn’t it?
Rose de Mai Hydrating Lip Balm/£44. Just because it’s summer, doesn’t mean we are neglecting to carry a lip balm at all times – and they don’t get more gorgeous than this, with its special edition packaging (perfectly acceptable to get this out at the table, we reckon), nourishing with every swipe and leaving lips veiled in a soft, rose sheen.
Rose de Mai Body Cream with Retinol/£135 for 150ml. Gosh, this is a total indulgence (check out that price) – but it has honestly worked wonders on Jo’s post-holiday skin, which was flaking like crazy. It’s rich, it’s incredibly fragrant, it smooths in absolutely instantly… and could skin be a little firmer? Jo has hunch that it is, and is going to be using every last swipe from the bottom of this hefty jar. (The jar itself isn’t rose-splashed, unlike the others – but the box is gorgeous!)
Très jolie.
