Al!ve Magnesium Plus Energising Body Gel Lotion

You can hardly have failed to notice that magnesium is the ‘wonder mineral’ du jour. It’s good for tired and aching muscles, fighting fatigue, can help beckon sleep when used before bedtime and more. We’ve been fans since it first made it onto our radar, several years ago.

Now a new beauty line is offering magnesium-powered treats at the high street end of the price scale – from just £2.50. (That’s for an anti-perspirant, but the only product over a fiver is the generous size of Body Recovery Bath Flakes.)

There’s a definite sports focus to the range, with products including Magnesium Plus Post Workout Body Gel, incorporating arnica alongside the magnesium, for sore muscles. But we’re not exactly sporty types (brisk walking and riding aren’t quite up there with aerobics and running), and we’re impressed at how well it performs – most notably the very fresh and cooling Energising Body Gel Lotion, which is also enriched with arnica (and seaweed, too).  

Without irritating, it honestly makes us feel like cells under the skin’s surface are fizzing, firing and connecting. Can’t explain it – but if it sounds really weird, you’ll only have to splash out a fiver to see just what we mean. Skin is also left very soft and smooth, but not greasy – it sinks in brilliantly.
