Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: Phil Smith Everyday Expert haircare
It was just so, so good recently to catch up with hairdresser Phil Smith, after much too long. And as ‘beauty steals’ go, they don’t get much more steal-like than the colourful collection he was unveiling at the Charlotte Street Hotel – above.
But this stuff doesn’t just look good. This is properly good stuff for hair, at least in the two versions we’ve tried – Daily Blonde (which definitely added a a mega-shine to Jo’s bleached-to-high-heaven hair), and Weightless Volume, which really does add bounce and ‘life’ to hair, without weighting it down in the least. (Hoping to get our hands on the gloss-promising Coconut Shine – and there’s also a Curl Control duo, which is good for all types of waves, curls and textured hair.) Each available as a Shampoo and a Conditioner.
Nominated eight times for British Hairdresser of the Year, and with a slew of other prestigious awards under his belt, Phil is still a working hairdresser, with a super-stylish salon, Smith England, just outside the precinct of Salisbury Cathedral that we’re making a diary note to visit, next time we’re in that beautiful cathedral city, and where he works alongside other talented scissor-wielding family members.
In recent years, haircare prices have climbed ever skywards. So, so refreshing to see haircare that does what it says on the tube – but which you don’t have to keep under lock and key, lest your flatmates/family use them with careless abandon.
