Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: L'Oréal Paris Absolute Eye and Lip Make-Up Remover
It boggles our mind that high street retailers don’t ‘zone’ all the different varieties of a particular product – in this case, eye make-up remover – together. THAT is how real people shop.
In a supermarket, all the tomato sauces are together, ditto the jams and cereals etc. Beauty products, though, are grouped together by brand, which makes finding something – in this case, an eye make-up remover – really challenging, as you have to investigate every brand’s offering, individually. Time-consuming, huh? Frustrating, eh?
Earlier this week were looking for an affordable, dual-phase eye make-up remover – one of those shake-before-use options – because the temperature has finally risen and more budge-proof textures and formulations are the order of the day. (At last!).
Having just run out, we wanted to try something new, though, rather than buy the same-old-same-old. At the cheaper end of the market, dual-phase removers aren’t that easy to come by anyway, yet they’re by far the most effective option for removing waterproof make-up.
But in the end…? We gave up. Ran out of time. Ran out of patience. Fruitlessly visited too many different brands’ concessions, and ultimately ended up Googling ‘Does L’Oréal do a bi-phase remover’ – whereupon this one came up.
Reasoning that L’Oréal Paris has the same parent company that makes Lancôme – whose dual-phase removers are just brilliant, if quite pricy – we decided to give it a go, and bought it online. And you know what? It’s completely stellar, at a quarter of the price of Lancôme’s. A little goes a surprisingly long way, completely erasing mascara, shadow, liner, under-eye concealer (and aso lipstick).
We still always feel a sense of failure, though, when we’ve tried to find a product in a real shop, and end up resorting to a website.
