Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: H&M Home Sublime Patchouli Candle

You can’t argue with a fabulous scented candle priced £3.99.

Well, you can, actually: you can get quite strident and say to it, ‘Honestly, you should be MUCH more expensive than this. It’s just ridiculous that I can buy something this gorgeous, created by Robertet – one of the world’s leading fragrance houses, specialists in natural ingredients – for less than a fiver.’

Actually, a quid and a penny less than a fiver – for the smaller size, anyway, which still burns for hours and hours. The larger size, promising a massively generous 80 hours of burn-time, will set you back all of £12.99; a room spray and a diffuser are also available.

In its cork-topped jar (which definitely could find a future use, once this has flickered its last), Patchouli Sublime smells warm, snuggly, a little bit sweet but most definitely patchouli-ish. (We are fans.) There are notes of fig and orchid, but overall the vibe is very smoochy and calming. We’ve a hunch we’ll still be burning this when the nights start drawing in again, but meanwhile, it’s flickeringly gorgeously in the corner of the office, eliciting comments from visitors pretty much along the lines of: ‘What’s that gorgeous smell?’, every time. (If you’re in the store, you could check out the other scents in the line-up, which are also impressively good.)

We will be stockpiling this one, though – because H&M have a slightly annoying habit of regularly switching up their home fragrances. But ‘sublime’ really does nail it, so far as we’re concerned.
