Weekend Steal: The Body Shop Bluebell collection
There is something about a bluebell wood that goes straight to the heart of those of us who are lucky enough to live near, or to visit one. The haze of blue, scent hovering in the air – sweet, green, hyacinth-like.
It’s all-too-rarely captured in a fragrance. There’s a glorious Penhaligon’s Bluebell fragrance, but few others have captured the magic of these little nodding blue flowers.
And then here comes The Body Shop and does just that, with a really rather blooming lovely (and wonderfully affordable) limited edition bodycare and fragrance line-up – photographed above, surrounded by the bluebells in Jo’s own garden.
Bluebell Fragrance Mist/£12 for 100ml. Incredibly reasonably-priced, made from 96% natural ingredients – and honestly, it wafts you woodland-wards with its fresh floral scent. For longevity, layer it over…
Bluebell Body Butter Melt/£19 for 200ml. Slightly higher in price than our usual ‘Beauty Steals’, but this is a chunky (aluminium) tub of gorgeousness, light and creamy yet really moisturising, packed with glycerin, sunflower oil, coconut oil and organic aloe juice, sourced from The Body Shop’s longstanding aloe vera Community Trade project in Mexico (which Jo visited with founder Anita Roddick herself, many years ago).
Bluebell Shower Cream/£8 for 250ml. Gently cleansing and kind to skin, in a bottle made from 100% recycled plastic. And yes, bluebell-y wafs as you shower.
Bluebell Hand Cream/£7 for 30ml. The product we’ve been enjoying most often from the range, because the little tube is genuinely handbag-friendly. Infused with that genuinely bluebell-y scent,
Grab it while you can, lest the appearance of this range be as fleeting as the annual appearance of bluebells themselves.
