Urban Veda Ayurvedic Facial Oils
We love facial oils. But gosh, don’t some of them cost an arm and a leg? Which is fine if you’ve got the budget – but frustrating if you don’t.
So we welcome these very lovely facial oils from the excellent Urban Veda, whose beauty line is based on 5,000 years of Ayurvedic wisdom. The products are great value, always smell wonderful – and we think these will be a real hit, in the very wide line product. Not least because they come in at a (very-reasonable-for-a-facial-oil) £29.99 for 30ml.
Of course there’s no law that says you can’t choose any of them that you fancy, and the names certainly offer guidance: Purifying, Soothing, Radiance and Reviving (which actually works for all skintypes, including dry).
But we recommend taking Urban Veda’s ‘Discover Your Dosha’ quiz here. In Ayurvedic medicine, we fall into different doshas – Pitta, Kapha and Vata. Jo’s a Pitta, which means she’s a tendency towards redness and sensitivity. Interestingly, at the recent Natural & Organic Products Show, she did a smell test on the different Urban Veda facial oils – and blind-smelling, chose the one that was most suited to her Pitta skintype, the Urban Veda Soothing Facial Oil, which contains lots of sandalwood and a soothing Indian ingredient called shatavari (interestingly, a member of the asparagus family), in an avocado oil base.
It’s pretty mind-blowing, but we find that with Ayurveda, we’re drawn to the correct products almost by magic, pretty much every time. We like that there’s a real authenticity to Urban Veda’s products – at a fraction of the price of some other Ayurvedic-inspired brands. (Quite a lot of them are stocked in Waitrose, although sadly not yet the oils.)
