Spas we love...Linnaean Medi-Spa and Salon
Nine Elms, the former market area south west of Vauxhall Bridge, is ‘the most exciting and vibrant area in London nowadays’. That’s according to Jennifer Irvine, CEO and founder of The Pure Package, the gourmet meal delivery company, which has its headquarters there. The Pure Package also holds its own independent Wellness Awards, started by Jennifer, for which Sarah is a judge.
So when Sarah went to sample the services of the new Linnaean Spa just by the American Embassy, Jennifer came too – delighted at the prospect of a neighbourhood one-stop shop for beauty and wellbeing.
Shimmy in through the door to the Linnaean, just off busy Nine Elms Lane, and it’s like landing on a different, very quiet planet dedicated to cherishing visitors from top to toe.
The first thing you see off the Reception area is the light, pretty restaurant area with its garland-decked ceiling. Sarah and Jennifer had lunch there after their first class massage treatments (more below) and agreed the food was creative, delicious and very healthy. If you don't mind the word ‘clean’ applied to food, as in fresh and wholesome, it was positively squeaky... and looked as good as it tasted.
The Salon offers every service any beauty hound could desire from hair dressing (cut and colour, plus a clever See Through service to top up highlights), eye brow/lash shaping and tinting, via facials and waxing to make up and ‘free-from’ mani/pedis. The emphasis is on using high performing, natural products in all areas of the Linnaean.
Highlights in facial treatments include Dr. Maryam Zamani’s MZ Iconic Rose Gold Signature Facial (we could see the First Lady opting for that).
The Medi-Spa, marvellously decorated with wallpaper on the ceilings (to look at during treatments, obvs), offers acupuncture, osteopathy and massages. Both Jennifer and Sarah opted for a massage and were very impressed. Therapists Liz and Nisha were excellent; definitely at the very top of their trade. Every bit of Sarah’s body was pummelled, pulled and cajoled into better behaviour. We’re not talking about relaxing here – but it wasn't painful either.
All in all – that’s just what the Linnaean offers. Everything you need to look and feel fabulous.
