We don't like dermatologists’ filler injections. Besides, with some of the great products around – including a few new ones we're about to introduce you to – it’s perfectly possible for someone bothered by the appearance of lines and wrinkles to make a heck of a difference with cosmetics.

Revlon Youth FX sets out to fix lines and wrinkles. It’s not ‘Botox-in-a-jar’ – but the optical pigments in this range perform impressively. We're particularly taken with two products in the range…

Revlon Youth FX Fill + Blur Primer for Forehead – this is definitely the most ‘targeted’ line-banishing product we’ve ever seen – for those furrows that come about, generally, via squinting/frowning. (NB do make sure you regularly get your eyes tested, as that’s often a cause.) In a bottle a little like a nail varnish, it features a brush applicator which you smooth onto the offending frown-line. They say it can go under make-up – we prefer it over. It goes on shiny – but don’t be put off; the light gel turns matte, in no time.

Revlon Youth FX Fill + Concealer, meanwhile, is just brilliant for under-eyes: in three shades (we’re the middle one), it doesn’t settle into lines (unlike many), gliding on with a sponge applicator that means little blending is required. (A gentle tap should do the job to press into skin.) It’s packed with micro-fillers and optical diffusers – and we like to layer it over the forehead primer, as a line-blurring double-whammy.

So we say: cancel that doctor’s appointment, NOW – and get thee to Boots. Got to be worth a go.
