Fab Find of the Week: Tropic Skincare Refill & Replenish Scheme
Hoorah! We honestly do a little jig in the office every time a favourite brand tells us that they’re introducing a refill scheme. And if we’re talking favourites, Tropic Skincare is a truly treasured brand, as far as our testers are concerned, having scooped literally dozens of Beauty Bible Awards, over the past few years.
So, here’s the deal: several of Tropic’s products already feature a balloon inside, made from medical-grade silicone that is free from BPA. This has two advantages: the airtight balloon keeps the product fresh, collapsing on itself as the product gets used up. It also means that every last drop can be squeezed out of these bottles – which is music to our ears, because we are sooooooo bored with shaking and/or removing componentry from bottles in order to get to what’s left in the bottle.
You can’t actually BUY refills (at least not yet), but return five balloons, and they’ll be refilled at Tropic’s manufacturing facility. Founder and CEO Susie Ma explains: ‘We’ve invested our profits in brand-spanking-new eco machinery, to help us refill the balloons on-site at HQ, as we progress towards our “Infinite Purpose” of creating a healthier, greener, more empowered world.’ Return five balloons, and you’ll receive a £10 voucher to spend on the site.
Which products are part of the scheme? To date, three products – all Soil Association-certified, too. First up is the new skin-balancing, Soil Association-certified FRESH WAVES balancing moisturiser/£27 for 50ml, featuring prebiotics to keep sebum levels in check, along with blueberry extract and blue spirulina, for skin clarity and to refine pores.
For drier skins, SKIN DREAM firming night cream/£48 for 50ml, and SKIN FEAST nourishing moisturiser/£28 for 50ml, are also part of the Innerbottle scheme. But we suspect that before long, the number of products under the scheme’s umbrella will – well, balloon…
