Fab Find of the Week: Percy & Reed Royal Blossom x Historic Royal Palaces haircare

You’re in for a right royal treat here… because these simply smell like HEAVEN. They are special editions of bestsellers from Percy & Reed - the all-British haircare brand (founded by Paul Percival) which is a multiple Beauty Bible Award-winner, over the years – and are part of an interesting collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces, to create a fragrance inspired by the gardens of Kensington Palace.

The Palace is famed for its orangery – and it is orange blossom which is the overwhelming impression of this gorgeous range. Beneath that transporting, bright note, though, this is a light yet complex fragrance that also offers the sweetness of honey, alongside citrusy mandarin and orange, floral whispers of rose, jasmine and neroli, and the grounding strength of oak, cedar and ivy.

As for the products themselves? First up, there’s the Royal Blossom Wonder Balm Hair Primer, of which a million have been sold worldwide (and that says everything about this product). A lightweight, leave-in product, think of it the way you do a make-up primer – it smooths (here, the cuticle), and improves (in this case) styling. In a new 100ml size, it’s become a cornerstone of our hair ‘wardrobe’, and we also like it for smoothing hair between styling sessions. (Which can be quiet a gap, in our case!)

Percy & Reed Dry Shampoo has been a go-to for us, for a long time – wonderfully volumising, weightless, non-flaky, leaves hair shiny not flat-looking… and now it smells like we imagine heaven does! (NB You don’t have to have filthy hair to use dry shampoo: it’s so effective for giving hair a bit of oomph between blow-dries, too.)

There are also Royal Blossom Collection editions of four Percy & Reed faves, in their Hair & Body Wonders kit: 75ml sizes of Wonder Body Lotion, Wonder Body Wash, Wonder Shampoo and Wonder Conditioner, in one useful kit – and, as with the rest of the products, there packaging features illustrations in suitably luxurious gold.

Altogether beautiful (We just wish we knew the perfumer’s name, so we could pat him or her on the back.)
