Fab Find of the week: Náu skincare
Gosh, haven’t we all had a bit more time to think about the ethos behind the skincare we use, in the past getting-on-for-a-year? And during that time, more and more brands have crossed our desks that have put a lot of thought and care into their packaging – not just from an aesthetic point of view, but from recyclability and sustainability.
Náu is one that stands out for us – not just for its certified natural, vegan formulations, but for the packaging. The tubes for the face creams and toners from this brand, for instance, are created from a recyclable plastic based on corn. Others come in aluminium tubes, which can be popped in your recycling along with cans. And the apothecary-style brown glass bottles for other face and eye creams go in with your gin/wine bottles/jamjars.
As for the products themselves, Náu’s are ‘second-generation’ naturals. Everyone says they use ‘the highest quality extracts’ – yada, yada, yada – but here that’s evidenced by the fact that many of the oils in this range have been cold-pressed. (You may already know that cold-pressed olive oil is considered to be best in class; ditto many other oils.)
And at the same time, in the past few years, there have been quantum leaps in the sophistication of these naturals, boosting the potency and performance. To that end, pharmacist founder Dr. Anne-Claire Walch works with experts in aromatherapy and naturopathy, together with a workshop in Budapest that is expert at fusing nature and science. There are LOTS of products in the range. LOTS. It’s somewhere you can really customise your skincare, ranging from super-dry skin to oily via mature, rosacea, whatever. We can’t really prescribe for you, but we can say that there are some products that have pushed our own buttons: Anti-Fatigue Body Lotion, with its caffeine jolt; Age Renewal Hand Cream, which has a wonderful scent from Damascus rosewater, and the Overnight Rejuvenating Face Cream – just luscious, with vitamin E, antioxidant carrot seed oil and anti-imflammatory allantoin.
But all round, we’d say Náu is really rather ‘now’.
