Fab Find of the Week: Jones Road Beauty (from – yes – Bobbi Brown herself)
It is not our wont to write about products before they are available to readers, but we made an exception when the Jones Road range launched in the States last year.
As you can read here in our original coverage, we go back a l-o-o-o-n-g way with make-up artist Bobbi Brown, and the news that she was launching a new vegan, ‘clean’ cosmetics line was really rather epoch-making, when she could quite justifiably stare at sunsets from her Long Island clapboard holiday home, after decades of unbelievably hard graft.
We are completely delighted, then, to reveal that the range is now easily available in the UK. Just log on to Jones Road’s website, and you’ll automatically be directed to the British end of the site, with everything quoted in £££ and no shipping hassle – although be aware: THESE ORDERS STILL SHIP FROM THE STATES AND YOU’LL BE LIABLE FOR DUTY.
Quite a few new additions have joined the line-up since Bobbi sent Jo her stash last year. There’s a Face Pencil/£23, a brilliant crayon-like pencil which is just fantastic for concealing blemishes and lightening dark circles, and a surprisingly chunky Brow Pencil/£20 which (as she puts it) gives ‘more brow with less work’, and somehow – we know not how – manages to have hair-like fibres which attach to the brows, within a simple stick form.
There’s skincare, including The Oil Stick/£24, a roll-on facial oil featuring apricot, jojoba, sunflower and rosehip oils (never seen one of those before – so clever), plus Hippie Stick/£29, a multi-tasking ‘everywhere balm’ that just melts into face, body, skin. (We’re guessing it’s called ‘Hippie Stick’ because you could happily have taken it to Woodstock and wouldn’t have needed another product – except toothpaste…)
You’ll also find some GREAT kits.
Of course, Bobbi uses real women not supermodels in her helpful ‘Get The Look’ section. (And of course, the whole website is awash with tips, as you’d expect.) The results are natural-looking – the ‘like you but prettier’ vibe, which has always been her signature – and frankly, a welcome reminder that when it comes to make-up, less can be more.
