Fab Find of the Week: Diptyque's eco-update of L'Art du Soin

Say ‘Diptyque’ and what do you think? Scented candles? Lovely fragrances? Nice shops. (Oh. Shops. We remember those.)

The great unsung heroes of this French fragrance house’s line-up, we’ve always felt, are its skincare and bodycare creations. As you’d expect, these smell AMAZING – but the textures are utterly divine, too: true sensory treats. We first fell in love with them when first launched (the fact that was in 2009 makes us feel VERY old, actually). But for the first time since then, the collection has had an update, with the appearance of new products and some advances that align Diptyque with the new more sustainably-minded beauty-hound.

They already avoid ‘questionable’ ingredients: silicones, aluminium, mineral oils, phthalates, parabens, TED/DEA and synthetic colours. Now, sulphates have been removed (and a good thing too, we say, because many skins find them irritating).

We very much like that the gorgeous Softening Hand Wash and Velvet Hand Lotion (an absolute FAVE of ours) are now available in refillable glass bottles, along with a new refillable addition to the range: Exfoliating Hand Wash (divinely aromatic with rosemary extract, and with fine-ground olive stones that are quite excellent after gardening).

There’s also an innovative solid stick Infused Face Serum (above), containing a patented active called Floracera®, derived from tuberose, poet’s narcissus, jasmine and jojoba wax. It’s a really interesting way to apply serum – and (if the whole world could turn its attention back to the environment, for a moment), water-less products like these can be much more environmentally-friendly.

One of those best-kept secrets we’re glad to remind you of.
