Fab Find of the Week: Crabtree & Evelyn Bali Collection

CRABTREE_EVELYN_GROUP_SHOT.jpg

This marks a whole new departure for Crabtree & Evelyn – almost literally, since the collection whisks us to Bali. (The launch event did, too – via a live Zoom yoga class from Ubud, in the Indonesian island’s yoga heartland – definitely a favourite product unveiling, of late!)

The Bali Collection is HUGE. It spans everything from body and face products to a line-up of incense, rattan backpacks, cushions… There are even bookends and wall decorations – all with the intention of creating a calming vibe at home.

We suggest you might like to explore the collection here – and it’s definitely the most exciting thing to happen with the brand since they got a major makeover, last year.

Probably our top find is the Jasmine & Ylang Ylang Self-Massage Oil/£31.50 for 50ml – it’s luscious (think: sunflower, meadowflower and jojoba oils), perfect for post-summer skin and couldn’t smell more exotic if it tried. Jo is also completely addicted to the Coconut & Sandalwood Body Balm/£27 for 100ml, fantastic on feet and lower legs last thing at night, with wonderful glide, slip and an amazing sandalwood-y scent.

We also VERY much like the green Printed Knot Hairband/£16, below, made of Balinese fabric sown by women artisan seamstresses, great for scraping your hair back when removing make-up. What adds to the feel-good factor is that 100% of profits from this product go to the WAS Foundation, which offers free workshops and lessons to the local Balinese community. (5% of the profits overall go to the foundation. It’s not a lot, but it all helps.)

And because we’re always looking for non-naff incense options, we’re also very taken with the Ceramic Incense Holder/£16, below – and we love it even more for discovering that the holder comes from another local artisan, Tanteri (and his family), who create ceramics by hand in a village just north of Denpasar. We very much like that this collection actually engages with people in the Balinese community – because this ‘giving back’ is something that more and more people are looking for from brands, in this changed world.

Take time to explore it – and maybe look forward, like us, to a time when we can think about going to Bali in real life, on a bit of a spiritual pilgrimage.

For now, we’ll make do with some Downward Dogs, Trees and Planks, in the spare room, in front of a little altar accessorised by some ‘finds’ from Crabtree & Evelyn’s collection…
