Fab Find of the Week: Cosmetics à la Carte Silk Road Collection
And whoops! It’s suddenly December and parties, parties! And we absolutely need a new lippy for glamming up purposes. If the thought of forging a path through the crowded ranks of counters in a beauty hall is just too much – too many people, too much choice - may we suggest an alternative?

Our pick for a most gorgeous, soft, sheeny, suits-everyone red lipstick is Lustre Lipstick in Venetia, with a Sheer or Shimmer finish, from the new Silk Roads Collection. (And yes, the name is a curtsey to the British Museum’s don’t-miss exhibition, on until the end of February 2025; top tip for missing the crowds is to book for 10 a.m. when it opens.)
Venetia goes happily through the day but for staying power in the evening, we layer over lip liner (three shades – we like Guava for evening) and stroke shimmer over the top for shine-in-the-dark purposes. Venetia’s companion Lustre lipsticks - bronzey Bazaar and gilded Incense – are perfect in the Shimmer finish for boosting the glam factor, and you can find the line-up here.
Also in the Silk Roads Collection is plummy Plush – you might think it looks too dark but worry not because the Sheer Balm finish is almost translucent; so it suits even our fair complexions. For darker skins, we think layering Plush over Venetia would be win win.
