Fab Find of the Week: Diptyque Citronella collection
Trust us: there has never been a nicer-smelling or better-looking way to repel pesky mozzies.
Diptyque has come up with the loveliest, limited edition summer collection, which – if it wasn't gorgeous enough from an olfactory perspective – also looks as good as it smells; they have enlisted the talents of tastemaker-of-the-moment Luke Edward Hall to decorate the packaging. (And if you're a fan of the late Cecil Beaton's drawings, you'll love these, too.)
Conjuring up summer in the Med, LEH's drawings are splashed across several of the summer 'specials'. We're especially keen on the Citronelle candles – citronelle being French for famously insect-repelling lemongrass; if we were to have a bit of a Community Chest moment in the near future, we'd definitely be swinging for the mahoosive £250 giant version. Instead, we'll comfort ourselves with the £49 option, the size of a regular Diptyque candle (and looking more like those). They can both be used indoors and outdoors, FYI.
We're also mad for the Citronelle & Geranium Summer Body Spray with Essential Oils which smells wonderfully outdoorsy and sunny: fresh, aromatic, and with a subtle floralcy, harnessing not only lemongrass but also geranium and lemon eucalyptus, which are also known to help keep the dreaded mozzies at bay.
Greece, Capri and the rest of the Med may be out of reach for many of us, this this summer. But we can close our eyes, smell these – and dream.
