Fab Find of the Week: Little Soap Company Eco Warrior bars

Is it now possible to stand in your shower and look at the bottles of shampoo and conditioner and body wash and not feel at least a twinge of eco-guilt...? Probably not. (Thank you, David Attenborough – on behalf of the planet – for that.)

After the revival of bar soap instead of hand washes, we're now seeing another seismic beauty shift with the move towards cleansing bars of all kinds. And right on the money is this new range from Little Soap Company, glorying in the name of Eco Warrior.

We (finally!) met up with Little Soap Company founder Emma Heathcote-James for the first time recently, after much e-mail to-ing and fro-ing over the years. One of the driving forces behind the soap revival – she basically got her range into Waitrose in 2010 by sitting with her cute dog in reception until one of the buyers agreed to come down to meet her – Emma just launched a new collection of six soaps which have landed in many branches of Sainsbury's, having been hand-picked as one of their Future Brands. (To find out if there's a Sainsbury's stockist near you, click here – but the soaps are also available on Little Soap Company's website, via the same link.)

Inside the simplest (recyclable) cardboard containers, there are six bars with different properties, all skin- and hair-friendly as possible, and each featuring a great blend of aromatherapeutic oils. 100% vegan, too – and everything's four quid, which you definitely can't argue with.

For oily and problems skins, there's Clarifying Charcoal Bar (with a tea tree essential oil Blend), or for sensitive skins, a gentle olive-oil-based soap infused with chamomile and calendula.

For bodies, try the coconut-powered Moisturising Hand & Body Bar, or buff skin with the Exfoliating Bar, featuring naturally skin-buffing oatmeal (also good for itchy skin), infused with zingy and uplifting oils.

Even men get in on the act with Shaving Bar, infused with bergamot and lime. But the real buzz in beauty circles is about shampoo bars, and if you're going to give one a try, this ginger and orange-scented formula, rich in cleansing pink clay, creates a surprisingly good lather. (You will almost certainly want to follow with conditioner, but even we're surprised how well this works to cleanse hair and scalp.)

Are you ready to make the switch from your regular shampoo or cleanser...? Let us tell you, for would-be eco warriors, here is a jolly good place to start.
