Chanel Ultra Le Teint foundation

Last year’s beauty launch schedule was ALL OVER THE PLACE. But that doesn’t really matter, because this is the foundation that you really need to know about now, rather than in July when it hit the counters. (A less ‘July’ foundation, it’s hard to imagine. 

Delivering wonderfully velvety, matte and buildable coverage, this is a dream to apply. You can do so with fingers, or a brilliant, stubby 2-in-1 Foundation Brush (which works on fluid and powder). Apply to the back of the hand, then work the microfibre brush over face, for a luminous, honestly flawless finish. Go light – or go heavier, as we (who need a bit more help) do.

It’s oil-controlling, yet not drying on our already-dry skins – probably due to glycerine in the formula, which adds to the comfort factor. We haven’t given it a try in humid conditions, yet, but it definitely delivers long-wear, as promised.

Commendably, Chanel offer a spectrum of 30 shades, some with yellow and some with pink undertones – but having tried a few, they’re quite ‘forgiving’, shade-wise. (A good thing at a time when it’s near-impossible to try foundation in a store, anywhere.)

We can tell you: we will not ever be wearing this in July. But right now, when dull, winter-weary skin needs a helping hand, it’s ultra-perfect.
