Elemis Daily Defence Shield SPF30
The sun may (literally) be setting on summer, but this is no time to be putting away your daily SPF.
Controversially, perhaps, we’re not of the opinion that if you live in the UK you need to wear SPF30 in the depths of winter, or on a seriously overcast November day, or when the weather’s so rubbish that all you’re doing is scurrying from car to kitchen with bags of shopping, or from office to open taxi door…
But April to October – and during the winter, if you’re going to be outside gardening, walking or hiking – it’s still the biggest favour you can do your skin.
This, meanwhile, is a daily sunscreen that we’ll happily use year round – because it’s designed to shield against more than UV light. It also protects against ‘environmental microparticles’ (a.k.a. tiny particles of pollution), and against the potentially damaging light emitted by computer screens – which nobody’s quite got a handle on yet, but better safe than sorry, we figure.
This is just heaven to use – lightweight yet nourishing, with a blend of coconut, argan and jojoba oils alongside synthetics, that usual marriage of science and naturals which is the signature of many Elemis products. It’s also a perfect base for make-up, we’re finding.
And if we do decide to lace up our trainers and head out of the door on a sunlit December morning, we’ll be good-to-go, SPF-wise.
