Beauty Bible Loves… Wonderskin Wonder Blading Peel & Reveal Lip Stain

If you suffer from ‘disappearing lipstick syndrome’, this is a must. But because it doesn’t work like any other product that we’ve ever tried, you have to keep the faith and get the hang of it, before you let it change your life.

We discovered this when an Instagram ad popped into our feed, and were intrigued. So, Wonderskin Wonder Blading Peel & Reveal Lip Stain works like this: you apply a dark, inky, almost paste-like product to your lips using a doe-foot wand. (Precision’s quite important, but not difficult to achieve.) At this point, it looks scarily black, maybe even bright or navy blue, on the lips, depending on your shade choice (see below for a during-and-after!)

You leave it to ‘set’ for 10-30 seconds (start with a short window, then once you’ve got the hang, extend the setting time). Then, using a damp flannel or a tissue, remove the mask – and what is left behind is a deep, realistic lip tint.

There are 14 shades available, and we especially like First Kiss (cranberry-toned, which leaves a very natural looking colour). It bills itself as a ‘permanent’ lip stain, but in reality, it’s semi-permanent and the tint probably stays put for six to eight hours, if you avoid oily foods.

You can also invest in a Lip Activator/£4.50, which spritzes on to lips apparently to make the process even more long-wear – but we got excellent results without it. (They’re available as a kit, price £28, from Sephora.)

This product is honestly ideal if you’ve got a day when you’re not going to have time to touch up your make-up, or maybe a diary-ful of online meetings. The downside? It is a little drying, and at night, you’ll want to replenish with a rich balm.

It’s really rather weird – but we think it’s actually rather wonderful, Wonderskin!
