Wings of Wisdom Lunatic candle
A candle called LUNATIC…? Actually, that was always going to appeal to the Cancerians on the Beauty Bible team (Jo is so very much a Cancer that she was moonlight swimming under the Sturgeon full moon last week).
But the scent doesn’t disappoint: a hypnotic bled of vetiver, patchouli, cinnamon, jasmine, incense, woods and a touch of vanilla. It’s one of three in the Wings of Wisdom collection, which have been created ‘as modern talismans to provide both visual and olfactive cues for setting daily intentions, dreaming up change, and practising gratitude throughout the day.’
To that end, each comes with a mantra. For Lunatic, it’s ‘I embrace the change around me. I embrace the change within me.’ For Memories of Summer (a radiant blend of jasmine, mandarin, monoi, vanilla, white musk and citrusy kumquat), the mantra reads: ‘Happiness is here. I shine. I radiate.’ And to accompany A Watchful Eye, which pulses with ylang ylang, geranium, rose, plum and vanilla, we are invited to repeat: ‘I feel safe in my space. When I feel present, I find grace.’
Using a mantra is, of course, optional – but we personally love a bit of ritual, to anchor us in the day.
Not inexpensive by any means, but they burn very well and lastingly, based on rapeseed, vegetable oil and a touch of mineral wax, promising to be paraffin-free and with a cotton wick.
What’s more, the Wings of Wisdom candles come in truly beautiful bone china vessels – in the case of Lunatic, emblazoned with the phases of the moon, with gold on white – that they truly deserve repurposing, when the candles have flickered their last. We know lots of candle brands SUGGEST that – but in this case, you’d be a bit mad not to.
