Victoria Beckham Beauty Bitten Lip Tint

We adore a good lip stain. They are currently so useful, with masks: you take off your mask, breathe a H-U-G-E sigh of relief – and because stains cling, there's still some colour on your lips.

Succumbing to an Instagram ad the other day (because, um, we're as susceptible to these as the rest of the world), Jo sprung for this – not least because she was curious to find out what a Victoria Beckham Beauty delivery was like when it DIDN’T come via a PR.

Can we start with the delivery critique, then? Because the verdict is: thoughtful and impressively eco: cardboard box, a neat 'roll' of corn-based protective material round the product (rather than those incredibly annoying corn packing 'wotsits'), and what looked like (but obviously isn't really) a nice handwritten note from Victoria herself, on a postcard. It was a very pleasing experience, and when we buy beauty online, that's what we're after. The postal equivalent of the little carrier bag, with its accompanying heart-flutter.

The product itself is great, meanwhile: a long, doe-foot-tipped angled wand which applies this sheer cherry-rose lips. (Jo's shade: Chérie (see below for how it works on different skintones); there us also Bisou, which is more warm-toned.)

Pat it in for a really kiss-bruised-lip look (oh, those were the days), which doesn't budge. It's a stain, so it's not that moisturising – and there's always a trade-off in terms of endurance, if you layer it over or under a balm, but Jo likes doing that, when not wearing a mask.

VB describes her range as 'clean beauty' and there's a laudable transparency and eco-edge to this luxurious range – for a list of what they leave out, click here.

Not cheap – but impressive all round, Ms. Beckham.
