UOGA UOGA Micellar Water and lip treats

This Lithuanian brand has previously scooped Beauty Bible Awards, but had slightly dropped off our radar, due to not having a UK contact.

However, a beautifully-designed stand at the recent Natural & Organic Products Show caught our eye, as did their revamped packaging – and we had a little splurge online, afterwards. (Some of the range, including the products featured here, is available from EccoVerde, in the UK; we bought direct from UOGA UOGA’s website – and international shipping is free, over €60.)

You DO actually pronounce their name ‘Wogga-wogga’. And let us first settle things: that means ‘Berry, Berry’, in Lithuanian. The brand began with the founder creating masks from natural berries – and grew from there, into a full line of skincare and mineral-based make-up.

As the founder, Lena Sokolovska, explains: ‘During my journey with UOGA UOGA I understood that finding and using natural cosmetics should make your life easier, not harder. I know just how overwhelming it can be to learn about ingredients and to find the products that would just plain work! So, relax. We’ve spent hundreds of hours in the laboratory, consulted with experts in natural chemistry and also with professional make-up artists, to make our products a breeze to use. Now you can worry a tad less – and enjoy the natural a tad more.’

There really are some gems in the line-up of this Nordic beauty brand. So, here’s what we splashed out on, and are enjoying…

Nourishing Sheer Lipstick/£17.79. One of six available, our chosen shade 615 Charmberry is a pinky-brown that would literally suit any skintone. It glides onto lips with a comfy, vitamin E-enriched texture, conditioning lips as it colours. Pigmented, yes – but not too scare-the-horse-y in intense.

Lip Gloss/£15.89. Our chosen shade, from six): 623 Roseberry, a raspberry shade. Lightweight, glossy but not lacquer-shiny – more akin to a super-comfy lip oil than a lip gloss, actually, with jojoba and castor oils, candelilla and sunflower waxes, among other botanical goodies.

Lip & Cheek Colour/£13.99. Does double-duty, with a very blendable, soft texture, thanks to nourishing argan, jojoba and raspberry seed oils. We’re slipping this in a handbag for on-the-go-touch-ups; it’s very space-saving. (Shade? We went for 610 Gorgeous, for a definite just-got-back-from-a-beach-walk glow.)

Micellar Water/from £8.39 for 100ml. A natural micellar water that does a great job of sweeping away eye make-up and lipstick. (You might need two ‘passes’ around the eyes, to get rid of more stubborn eye make-up – but we’re happy to do that to be able to use a product that’s Soil Association/COSMOS-certified organic.)

As a gift with purchase, buying direct from Uoga Uoga, we also got to try as a gift the Face Scrub/£14.99 for 40ml, and can report: gentle, creamy, not scratchy – and definitely nicely skin-brightening, after a single use, as there are some gentle fruit acids in there.

All in all, we’re berry, berry keen!
