Guerlain Rouge G Legendary Reds
There is just one texture that comes to mind when we slick these new additions to Guerlain's much-loved lipstick line onto our lips. Velvet. Comfy, stretchy velvet. Or – if you prefer a shinier finish – stretch satin, maybe. The clues are in the names, actually: Matte Velvet and Satin Shades – but in this case, it's not marketing-speak: they really are the most amazingly accurate descriptions.
Each texture is available in a trio of reds spanning cool red to warm red, with something that works for everyone. To show them off, there are editions of the refillable and highly covetable lipstick cases which are, in part, what make Rouge G so desirable. (Refillable is The Way Forward, in beauty.)
If you've already got your Rouge G compact, then any of these will slip right inside. But on the other hand (and we DO have a couple), we are rather lusting for one of these mirrored lipstick cases in an appropriately velvety finish...
They are the debut creation by ultra-hip Parisian make-up artist Violette Serrat, recruited by Guerlain as their resident creative make-up genius, as and oh, are they GLORIOUS. Red lipstick is of course classic, but it's definitely having a moment right now, and with their texture, these are absolutely trend-setting – yet very wearable.
Still not brave enough? We often slick on a lip balm and apply a red over the top, for a slightly sheerer finish – though with textures like this, they rather call for us to summon every ounce of va-va-voom, maybe dust off a handbag (from which to flourish your Rouge G), squeeze yourself into something with a waistband (remember those?), and SASHAY...
