We have been MASSIVE fans of La Montaña since this brand first flickered into life. The venture was launched by an old friend from her PR days, Cassandra Hall (at one point Cass did PR for Beauty Bible!), with her husband Jonathan, after they pursued their dream to move to the mountains of Spain.
It was in part the scents that seduced Cass, and thus the idea for La Montaña was born. We’ve previously swooned over First Light and Sacred Roses, but in time for Christmas, two gorgeous new aromas have been launched.
If you’re longing to recapture the languor of summer, we can recommend the ‘explosion’ of heady florals, herbs and spices in August Sunset. Think: orange flower absolute, geranium, rose absolute, black pepper, fir balsam, cistus labdanum and fennel. It’s lazy, hazy and reminds us: there is life beyond vests.
The cosier, more seasonal choice is the new Mistela scent, meanwhile, evoking a traditional Valencian dessert wine treat via booze-soaked raisins, spices (clove, star anise, saffron and cinnamon, together with orange, coffee and a sugar accord. (Never mind smelling this; we wouldn’t mind SIPPING it!) A real treat for the senses, and NB: both are available as reed diffusers as well as candles - all very reasonably-priced, we think.
