Beauty Bible Loves... Hello Sunday daily SPFs

We used to maintain that nobody needed sunscreen in winter, but we’ve completely revised our opinions – not least in the light of research into the effects of blue light on our skin (and who doesn’t spend half the day looking at their devices…?)

Also, we’ve gotten in the habit of downing tools and getting out to exercise whenever the sun breaks through, so precious are those moments (and happily, in charge of our own destinies, we’re lucky enough to be able to do that).

So, we wanted to share info on Hello Sunday’s ‘wardrobe’ of products that will cover all your autumn/winter SPF needs, and which is exclusively devoted to that task.

Hello Sunday has a huge range of SPF options, but these are the ones we’ve been trying and liking. (NB These aren’t in any way natural formulations, relying on synthetic ingredients to perform their sun-protective tasks, just for scene-setting, while the prices aren’t silly-money.)

The Tinted Lip Balm  An effortless balm to keep in a pocket, this slicks on an an SPF50 level of protection, alongside a flattering, suits-all-skintones rosy tint and the moisturising power of hyaluronic acid and shea butter. And unlike a LOT of lip SPFs we’ve tried, there’s no ‘chemical taste’ – just whispers of berries.

The One That's A Serum  Interesting. There aren’t a ton of SPF serums on the market, and it’s a texture that makes it super-easy to use; you can simply layer your own favourite moisturiser over the top, comforted by the thought that skin is well shielded, while also enjoying the plumpifying action of our old chum hyaluronic acid.

The Illuminating One  If you’re not ready yet to go completely velvety-matte with your autumn ‘look’, check this out: under foundation, in particular, it gives a gorgeous radiant glow. Perhaps a little too gleamy for use on its own, for us (certainly at this time of year) but still a great, easy texture.

The Take Out One  Slip this in a coat pocket, ready for those welcome bursts of sunshine… TBH, this is probably more useful in summer when you’re lounging at lunch in a sleeveless sundress (sigh), and shoulders are at risk of pinking up, but still: a jolly useful, swivel-up format solid balm SPF that could be dabbed on a nose in colder weather, and would be great for the slopes. If you are so inclined.

We’re so often asked: ‘What’s the best anti-ageing product?’, and (boring as it is), the answer is always: ‘Sunscreen’. So there you go…
