Beauty Bible Loves... FUL Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Our interest in this hair serum was piqued by the fact it trumpted ‘Hyaluronic Acid’ in the product name. It’s a moisture-boosting ingredient we’re so familiar with from skincare – but what, we wondered, would it bring to a hair product?
The answer is – um – moisture. Lots of it. From the get-go. Jo duly handed this to Maxine Barrow at Nicola Clarke’s salon, to use it as part of a blow-dry, for an expert opinion – and the results were pretty mind-blowing. ‘So, you’ll want to know about the texture,’ Maxine said, massaging a pea-sized amount (as per instructions) into her palms, then working through Jo’s wet hair. (The pump makes it super-easy to get out the right amount each time, although Maxine did ask: ‘Are we talking petit pois or ordinary pea?’ And they decided: something in the middle for Jo’s just-above-shoulder-length hair.
The results were tangible immediately hair was dry. It was soft, smooth and felt very moisturised (which is no mean feat because winter dryness is already starting to set in, after the central heating went on so early). Moisture really is what hair increasingly needs over the coming months, because the triple-whammy of the heating being turned on, wintry winds and the effect that hats have on our hair, literally absorbing moisture (as well as roughing up the cuticle so that hair looks less shiny).
This can also be used on dry hair (that’s as in non-wet), for a touch of moisture in between styling sessions. As Maxine observes, ‘It’s not oily or greasy like a traditional hair serum. It’s more like a facial serum, sinking right in.’
We’ve a hunch this is going to be our hair’s new #BF, over the cold months.
