If you've touchy skin, it often makes sense to embark on an 'elimination' programme, whereby you reduce the number of products used, scrutinising labels carefully to establish which ingredients might just be triggering a reaction.

Five Dot Botanics is an innovative skincare brand makes that really simple: each product is based around just five ingredients, bringing us effective – but unusually simple – formulations, with the shortest of INCI lists (which list ingredients).

Of the products we've liked best, while trialling, we point you in the direction of Full Bright Renewal Eye Serum/£30 for 10ml – a blend of glycerine, caffeine, horse chestnut, water and liquorice root, to invigorate the eye zone – delivered via a rollerball which helps smooth puffiness away. We also love the Pure Rewind Restorative Face Mask/£28 for 30ml, blending natural rose-tinted clay with safflower seed oil, glycolipids, glycerine and lavender essential oil.
