If you’re a rose-lover, you may have to be just a tiny bit patient while you wait for this to unfold on your skin... The business is built on fairness, says Phillipe Charrier, grandson of the original founder Francis Charrier, who fell into perfumery as the result of a forbidden romance.  In 1884, disowned by his aristocratic father for marrying a Russian circus dancer, Francis put bread on the table as a farm labourer. Extraordinarily he combined this with an ultimately successful evening job with a perfumer. In 1888, Faîr Parfum was launched, with Francis not just passionate about creating beautiful scents but also workers’ rights – paying faîr wages for fewer hours - and also protecting traditional perfumery skills.
