Edina Ronay Silk Masks for The Vineyard Project
As of now, of course, we’re all advised to wear masks when shopping or travelling on public transport. And we duly will.
Indeed, lately, it’s seemed as if every other ad on our Instagram feed is for face masks. (That was bound to happen, no?) But nothing has quite hit the mark for us mask-wise – till now. Denim? No thanks: too thick and claustrophobic. Millennial pink satin? More boudoir than Bakerloo Line. Surgical masks…? Well, as a fall-back, sure. If we must. (Got a stock of those, anyway.)
Immediately this pinged into our inbox (yesterday afternoon), though, we placed an order. Because the wonderful fashion designer Edina Ronay has created THE most gorgeous vintage-style silk masks, with all proceeds going to the excellent charity The Vineyard Community Project, based near her home in Richmond, London.
The Vineyard Community Project works to help the homeless and lonely people, creating food banks for those in need in the local community. Altogether, A Very Good Thing which you can read more about here.
We’ve long been HUGE fans of Edina’s designs (um, Jo bought her first Edina Ronay item in the 1970s!). We love her ‘Buy less, buy to last’ philosophy – and if you check out the rest of her website, you’ll find timeless designs that you will still be wearing in 20 years’ time.
As for the masks themselves, these are made of soft, lightweight silk (hand-washable), and are available in 18 different designs (see just some of them below – Jo bought the blue one, top).
We will now actively look forward to wearing our masks. For which we send Edina just the biggest kiss (even if she won’t be able to see it, when we’ve got our lovely masks on).
