Charlotte Tilbury Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir
Zoom beauty launches are becoming quite a ‘thing’. An hour or so with an ‘expert’ of one kind or another, a lot of scientific background (or in this case, much raving about the power of crystals, which feature majorly in Charlotte Tilbury’s own life), etc. etc.
It’s always nice to spend time with our old friend Charlotte Tilbury (albeit on a screen), and it was great to see her on top form, launching Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir. But to be frank, our attitude whether it’s a real-world or a cyberspace launch is always the same: send us the product, we’ll give it a try – and then we’ll tell you what we think. Ideally, send us 10 – which we really hope that Charlotte Tilbury will, with this – and we’ll give them to testers who’ll really tell it like it is.
Because we think this will go down a treat. A rollerball lip oil, it’s glossy and feels wonderfully nourishing from the first slick. It’s designed to be used more as a cosmetic by day – great over lipstick for some extra, subtly shimmery shine that also creates an illusion of slightly fuller lips. But also at night, applied generously to the whole lip area (and ‘lip edges’) as a treatment.
And oh, we’ve really been enjoying this. Powered by lashings of lip-plumping hyaluronic acid, it also features organic aloe vera, Alpine rose extract and a blend of ‘Magic Lip Care Oil's’ including camellia, evening primrose, shea, sunflower seed and rosehip. The ‘anti-ageing’ element is something called swertian leaf, which works to tackle fine lines.
It’s too soon to tell, as we’ve only been using this for a couple of weeks – but lips are definitely super-comfortable, moisturised, smooth and lipstick-ready, by day.
It launched alongside another new product, Charlotte’s Magic Serum Crystal Elixir. This is a pore-minimising, complexion-smoothing primer – again, harnessing the power of crystals. It definitely creates a smooth canvas, is brilliant at minimising pores (and make-up lasts well) – but to be honest, we’re personally not finding it’s quite comfy enough on our very dry skins, even with moisturiser over the top (and notwithstanding research that insists there’s a 172% improvement in hydration after one hour).
The lip oil, though? Magic indeed.
