Beauty Bible Loves... CHANEL Les Beiges Winter Glow Collection
Let’s get one thing straight. You do not need to be a keen skier to love this collection. We do not ski. We used to ski, but an unfortunate incident on a mountain in Colorado put paid to that.
However, whether you’re headed for the slopes or the shops, there are some real complexion-lifters in this Chanel collection, perfect for this time of year. (Going a bit off-piste here, but we do think they missed a trick not calling it ‘Les Beiges Les Neiges’, though!)
Leaving aside the completely gorgeous, snow-white CHANEL packaging, meanwhile, here are the three creations from the Winter Glow Collection which are working wonders on our winter-weary complexions. (NB These, as you’d expect from Chanel, are splurge-priced, for most of us.)
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Winter Glow Primer (ABOVE – our shade: Frosty White). This trio of primers has had beauty editors buzzing since the launch (which we sadly had to miss, because we were not-so-sadly lying on a sun longer). And we’re not surprised – an under make-up base that brightens the skin, and adds just the right dose of radiance without making you look sweaty and over-dewy. (Not sure if ‘over-dewy’ is a word, but it is now.) Technically, this is a limited edition, but we’d be surprised if they didn’t transition to the permanent collection.
Chanel Les Beiges Winter Glow Blush. Having lately been almost unswervingly devoted to cream blushers, this has made us rethink. In three shades – ours was Rose Polaire, which would suit pretty much anyone – it goes on super-sheer, with a whisper of gleam, for an instant, healthy glow. The compact, as with all of Chanel’s, is brilliant: unlike many brands, their mirrors magically give a full-face reflection, for an overall impression of your make-up stops you overdoing it.
Chanel Rouge Coco Baume. Um, nobody NEEDS a Chanel lip balm. But since when did ‘need’ come into it…? Anyway, it’s luscious, comforting, available in three new tinted shades, as well as a pearly white; ours is Cocoon, the deepest (a sort of brown-y pink), but still adds just a hint of lip-coloured gleam and shine, while dealing – so beautifully, in every way – with winter lip discomfort, not least thanks to a particularly nourishing olive extract.
We had them demo-ed on us during a one-on-one consultation with Laura at CHANEL’s flagship on Bond Street, and will honestly be nipping back for a quick make-up zhoosh with Laura when we find ourselves in the area. (Which is quite often.) Veritably, she’s a whizz with those brushes.
