Byre British Dairy Bodycare
Well, this is something different. And worth sharing, we think, with those who aren’t sensitive to SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate), or who don’t suffer from dry skin, which can in some cases be irritated by this foaming ingredient.
Those are a couple of big caveats – but there are other notable things about this range which we feel worthy of our attention and yours. Because we’re all for using ingredients which are more local – and which support local producers. And Byre takes whey sourced from British dairy farms, to create this trio of (yes) creamy body washes. We’re told that the dairy industry currently wastes 870,000 tonnes of whey each year, so this is a great use of a product that would otherwise literally go down the drain.
96% natural, Byre British Dairy Bodycare is also enriched with aloe vera, sustainably sourced poppy seed extract and various vitamins. There are three different washes, titled ‘Full Cream’ (yup, it’s the richest and creamiest, with a vanilla scent); ‘Semi Skimmed’ (fruity-florally scented, enriched with vitamins E, C, B5 and B6), and ‘Skimmed’, the lightest and airiest of the trio, which has a woody-green-floral fragrance (the scent we like best).
We would nudge this brand in the direction of a different cleansing ingredient to SLES, at some point… And then it’d be pretty darned perfect. But as concepts go? Great work, and the sort of thing we’d like to see more of, turning waste into gorgeousness.
