Annee de Mamiel Rise and Annee de Mamiel Shine
There we were, sitting in bed last Saturday, reading Gill Sinclair’s always-riveting The Weekend Read newsletter, when she revealed that she had been reminded of two particular essential oil blends that she’d kinda forgotten about.
And so had we. Yet there they were, Annee de Mamiel Rise and Annee de Mamiel Shine, lurking at the back of the bedside table, shuffled off our daily radar by the raft of newness that we are compelled to dip, dab, smooth and sniff, in the line of Beauty Bible duty.
Well, HELLO again, you two! Dusted off (um, literally) and now front and centre as part of our morning routine – and particularly useful now the days are getting shorter. Yes, early mornings are briefly lighter again, thanks to the clocks going back, but it’s only a matter of time before it’s still pretty dark at 8 a.m., and these truly come into their own when we need to feel sharp and perky.
Rise is both uplifting and grounding, we find, with its blend of mint, lemon, rosewood, cedarwood, and rosemary, while Shine is citrusy, zingy and smile-making, combining tangerine, pink grapefruit, rosewood, spearmint, May Chang oil and neroli. Over and above the essential oils, they also offer adaptogenic herb extracts like schisandra, milk thistle, ginseng, reishi and cordyceps mushrooms and more – very much ‘functional’ blends.
The two blends are quite distinct but personally, we like to use both successively first thing, and then return to Shine again later in the day when we need to ‘reset’ a bit. The recommended way to get the most out of them is to rollerball the oils into the palms of the hand, rub together, cup the palms over the nose and just b-r-e-a-t-h-e. Annee is, of course, one of the country’s leading aromatherapists (if not THE leading aromatherapist), and so the blends are quite exquisite and very effective – just the best way to start the day, we’re finding.
