Weekend Steal: Revolution Skincare London x Sali Hughes
Wow. Reckon you're going to have to be quick off the draw for this, because there is SUCH a buzz about the range that author, journalist and wise woman of beauty Sali Hughes has created for Revolution Skincare London. Our prediction: a sell-out, and hopefully a waitlist for those who don't manage to get their hands on the debut drop.
OK, so most of the range busts our usual £10 ceiling for a ‘Weekend Steal’, but very definitely qualifies as affordable. It's also wonderfully pared-down. We have never been fans of the complicated, multi-step beauty routine, or overloading skin. Very few people we know have the time, the inclination OR the money to embark on such a regime – and as this range proves, there's really no need. As Sali says: 'One of the most important parts of this project for me has been affordability. I just think that everyone should be able to access great, affordable skincare.'
And this truly is. There are just six products in the range, including the Gel Quench Light Anytime Moisturiser, which is still to come, at time of press, but for now, the three stand-out products, for us, are...
Butterclean Makeup Meltdown Cleansing Balm/£15 for 80ml. A lush, soft balm that literally melts make-up, leaving skin perfectly clean but not in the least tight – absolutely an invitation to massage your face, which is one of the very best things you can possibly do for it.
Cream Drench Anytime Moisturiser for Drier Skins/£14 for 50ml. Drier skins? That'll be us, then. We are currently slurping up this rich but non-clogging cream, which boasts ceramides, HA, shea butter and other nourishers, alongside brightening niacinamide. It's one of those skin-looks-better-after-a-single-application products we always dream of.
Must C Anytime Vitamin C Serum/£15 for 30ml. A hefty 15% of ascorbyl glucoside (a more stable form of vitamin C) gives this serious instant brightening power. To be honest, we get the teensiest tingle while using this, but that just translates as glow rather than irritation. Skin-enlivening niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, glycerine and and antioxidant vitamin E and ferulic acid also feature; it's early days to report on the long-term benefits of this, but a quick, pre-event face fix? We've tried that already, and this scores big.
As Sali says, 'I've worked with great formulators, and proven active and supporting ingredients, to create a 100% cruelty-free and vegan-friendly core range of two cleansers, one exfoliant, one serum and two moisturisers, all fully compatible, to be applied in four simple steps over just four minutes.' Key ingredients include several of our own favourites: softening jojoba oil, lightweight nourisher squalane and everyone's favourite skin-quencher, hyaluronic acid.
We love the simple, pretty-toned packaging, too. In fact? It's simply perfect.
Bravo, Sali.
