Beauty Bible Weekend Steal: NYX Professional Make-up Buttermelt Powder Blush

Picture the scene. A dull afternoon, cloaked in winter gloom, leaving us feeling like it was ages since an early start. And make-up that’s been faded into insignificance by relentless mizzle.

This is surely one of the key reasons Boots exists on our high streets – for beauty emergencies like this. So, let’s cut to Scene Two: standing in front of the NYX counter, in a London branch. (Because NYX – which gets its name from the goddess of the night – is a range we’ve long felt we should know better.)

Eyes are caught by a blusher they describe as ‘Butter’ – which sounds eminently smooshable into weary-looking skin, without a brush. (We didn’t happen to have one.) One Apple Pay ping later, and in Scene Three, we’re standing on the pavement smoothing the silky-textured blusher into cheeks – and looking like we’ve come alive again.

Turns out, on further investigation, that Buttermelt Blush is a powder blusher, though. But we honestly thought it was a cream, because unlike almost any other powder blusher we’ve encountered, it can most definitely be blended into the face with fingers – no brush required. (If you do use one, by the way, make sure it’s your fluffiest – and use the gentlest touch, because these pigments are super-rich.)

We went for tawny-rose Feeling Butta – and then a few days later, picked up the slightly pinkier For the Butta shade – together, the most natural-looking of quite a bold spectrum of 12 shades.

Only a mirror in the compact lid could improve this product – but then, for a great price like this, what do you expect…?
